4.1.1 Rich Text Editor

The Rich Text editor is a word processor integrated within LabArchives that allows you to utilize many of its tools to format text, embed images, and apply multiple features in your entries. The functions of each icon in the upper toolbar are explained in the Icon Legend below.
The Cut tool enables you to remove text from your document and place it on your clipboard to use in another document.
The Copy tool enables you to copy text from your document and place it on your clipboard to use in another document.
The Paste tool enables you to place your clipboard contents onto another document.
The Paste as Plain Text tool allows you to paste text into a Rich Text entry as plain text to remove formatting that may have been captured when copying from the original text.
The Paste from Word tool retains MS Word formatting that was captured in the original text.
The Undo tool removes the previous action.
The Redo tool executes the previous action once again.
The Source tool allows you to view the HTML code for your Rich Text Entry. You can use this to inspect the code behind your entry or to insert an iFrame into the entry.
The Find tool is used to search a body of text for a specific character sequence.
The Replace tool is used to search a body of text for a specific character sequence, and if you want to, replace that sequence with other text.
The Select All tool highlights everything on the Rich Text Editor page. Click on this to copy the content of the entry to the clipboard to use elsewhere.
The Check Spelling tool provides additional options other than just checking spelling. If you need assistance with these, please contact email@example.com.
The Bold tool modifies the text to bold print type.
The Italics tool modifies the text to italics print type.
The Underline tool underlines the text.
The Strike Through tool places a line through the selected text.
The Subscript tool, when clicked (turns blue), positions the next character in a subscript position. To return to normal print mode, click the subscript button again.
The Superscript tool, when clicked (turns blue), positions the next character in a superscript position. To return to normal print mode, click the superscript button again.
The Remove Format tool removes any formatting associated with any highlighted text.
or Create a list by choosing either Numbered or Bulleted tool, or select text that you want to turn into a numbered or bulleted list.
The Decrease Indent tool moves your paragraph closer to the left margin.
The Increase Indent tool moves your paragraph farther away from the left margin.
The Block Quote tool is used to offset a block of text within a body of text. Click the tool again to return to normal formatting.
The Create Div Container tool is an advanced feature and should only be used if you are familiar with HTML elements and with CSS styling. Click here for more information on how to use this tool.
These Alignment tools position your text accordingly between your page margins.
The Link tool is used to enter a URL address in order to link to another location within this notebook, a separate notebook, or to the World Wide Web.
The Unlink tool removes a link associated with the text.
The Anchor tool holds a graphic in place as you type text around it. If the anchor moves to the next page, so does the graphic.
This Insert Image tool is used to for images that will be stored outside the page entry. If you want to save the image within the page entry, then see the other Insert Image icon below. Learn more about how to embed an image in a Rich Text entry.
The Math tool enables you to create professional looking equations in Rich Text entries. Click here for additional information.
The Table tool enables you to create tables within your text body. Clicking on tool icon will open a Table Properties window where you can specify table properties such as columns, rows, dimensions, and so forth.
The Insert Horizontal Line tool inserts a horizontal line in a rich Text entry between the left and right page margins.
The Special Character tool opens a window from which you may select a special character to insert within your body of text, including large and small Greek characters.
The iFRAME tool is used to display a web page within a web page. If you need further assistance, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Embed Media tool is used to embed video within a Rich Text Entry. Learn more about how to embed video into a Rich Text entry.
This Insert Image tool is used for images that will be stored directly in the page entry. If you want to save an image outside the page entry, then see the other Insert Image icon above. Learn more about how to embed an image in a Rich Text entry.
The Styles drop-down menu provides access to various block and inline text style options to choose from.
The Paragraph Formatting drop-down menu provides various paragraph formatting options.
The Font drop-down menu provides access to various font styles.
The Size drop-down menu provides access to various font sizes.
The Text Color tool enables you to modify the color of the text.
The Background Color tool enables you to modify the background color of the text.
The Show Blocks tool toggles on a graphical representation of the paragraph blocks in your body of text. Click the icon again to turn off the graphical view.
