7.05 Using LabArchives on a Mobile Device Browser

LabArchives Web App can be viewed easily right from the browser on any mobile device. If you want to access your notebooks on a tablet or smartphone you can simply use the web browser (Safari, Chrome, Firefox) on your device. It complements the full web version of LabArchives ELN while leveraging tablet and smartphone features such as image or video capture and voice to text.
Due to device variations, the screenshots shown in this document may appear slightly different on your device. The functionality will remain the same.
Launch the browser on your mobile device and enter one of the following web addresses: US and other countries – https://mynotebook.labarchives.com Australia and New Zealand – https://au-mynotebook.labarchives.com United Kingdom – https://uk-mynotebook.labarchives.com
Once you are directed to our homepage, you can login to your LabArchives Account by entering your email address and password.
Android users have the ability to add LabArchives Web App to their main mobile device homescreen. This will behave like an app on your mobile device making it easily accessible. Use the browser (Chrome or Firefox) on your mobile device to login and follow the steps below. Unfortunately, this feature is not available on for iOS devices.
1. Go to https://mynotebook.labarchives.com/ (or the URL for you region)
2. Click on the Triple Dot icon in the top-right corner
3. Tap “Add to Home screen”.
4. You’ll then be prompted to title the shortcut and tap ‘Add’ to save it to your phone.

3. Tap “Install”.
4. Either tap and hold to manually place the shortcut on your Home screen, or tap “Add Automatically” to have the shortcut added to your Home screen.
After logging in, you will see the structure of your lab notebook. To view other notebooks in your account, tap the triple bar icon on the top left. To open a Page or folder tap on the name of that item. To create a new page or folder tap '+New", provide a name for the page or folder, and tap "Add."
To add a new entry to a page tap "+New" or the "Create Something New" link, and select the entry type that you would like to add. To edit an existing entry, first tap on the entry, then tap the pencil icon on the top left. When you are finished with the entry, click the Save Entry button the top left corner of your entry to save. To cancel your edits, click the Cancel button.
To view or comment on an entry tap the Comment Icon. If an entry has a comment you will you see a green number indicating the number of comments. When you are finished adding your comment, tap Done to save. To delete a comment, tap on the trash bin icon next to it.

Several applications allow you to share photos or files to the LabArchives App. When you’ve located the content, you wish to save to LabArchives, tap the Share icon and select LabArchives from your app list.
If you select save to notebook, you will be prompted to select the page. Save to inbox will add the file to your LabArchives Inbox. To learn more about the inbox, CLICK HERE.
Your institution may set an institution-wide timeout for the web app sessions. If you are inactive for a period of time, you will see the following message. Once the session has timed out, you will be back on the Login page.
User can take advantage of the voice to text options provided on the keyboard of their mobile device. Due to the variation in devices, please contact the manufacturer of your device for more information on the voice to text options available.
